Terms of use

Plain-language terms for Moved to Act, run by the Emergent Frontiers Institute, including the 18+ age limit and the license you grant for your stories.

Who we are

Moved to Act (movedtoact.com) is operated by the Emergent Frontiers Institute ("the Institute", "we"). By using the site you agree to these terms. Last updated 5 October 2026.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older. Accounts are by request and approval, and each account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself, and write to contact@movedtoact.com if you think someone else has used your account.

What you post

You keep ownership of the stories, notes and photos you post. You give the Institute a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store that content, display it on Moved to Act, edit it for length or to remove personal details, and quote it in the Institute's reports about the site.

Withdrawing your content

You can withdraw content by deleting the post or your account, and the license ends when you do. Content already printed in a published report stays in that report.

What you promise about content

Post only what is true and what you have the right to share. Get consent from the people who appear in your stories or photos, and follow the Community guidelines.

Other organizations

Most actions happen on other organizations' sites or in their programs, such as the Red Cross or NMDP. We check organizations before listing them, but we do not run their programs and make no promises about them, including whether a shift or project happens as described. Their own terms apply.

Your own discretion

You decide whether to take any action, and you take it at your own discretion and risk. Follow the safety notes on each action and the organization's own rules, and stop whenever something feels unsafe.

Crews, partners and badges

Crews are run by their members. Crew leads can remove people, and we may close a crew that breaks these terms or the Community guidelines. A partner's confirmation or a badge records what was checked at the time; it is not a guarantee, a license or a professional qualification, and it does not make the Institute responsible for the work.

Check-ins are not medical advice

The wellbeing check-in is a short questionnaire, not a diagnosis or treatment, and nobody at Moved to Act follows up on individual scores. If you are struggling or thinking about suicide, contact a crisis line or your local emergency services. In the United States and Canada you can call or text 988. Each check-in score shows the national crisis line for the country in your settings, and findahelpline.com lists free helplines in other countries.

Money

The site never handles money. Any gift or loan you make through a linked site is between you and that site.

Removing content and closing accounts

We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these terms or the Community guidelines. You can delete your account at any time under Settings on your record, or by writing to contact@movedtoact.com.

No warranty and limits on liability

The site is new and is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the Institute is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or from actions you take through it.

Changes

We may update these terms, and we will email members before a significant change takes effect.
