Mai Le looks after the Skyline Blue Book Box, a Little Free Library in Daly City, California. Along with keeping it stocked, she hosts book parties for neighborhood children and takes part in Make A Difference Day, and nearly 1,600 people follow the library on Instagram. In 2023 Little Free Library gave her its Todd H. Bol Award for Outstanding Achievement. Le told the Mountain View Voice that books are "very easy, tangible things to share." In nearby Redwood City, a troop led by Jenny Barnes opened its own box near Red Morton Park in 2024 using a secondhand box from a local Buy Nothing group.
